Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom

What it’s all about?

Morrie Schwartz, is terminally ill. He’s dying of ALS, a disease of degeneration of motor neurons. He knows that he will die soon. He is Mitch long-time-not-see professor, a coach that always teach Mitch lessons.   And this is the last lesson from Morrie to his student Mitch. The lesson of life. Despite his terminally illness, Morrie gives a great lesson of life. He knows that his life is at its end, but Morrie never gives up on life. In Tuesdays With Morrie, Mitch spends his Tuesdays attending Morrie final lectures and love grows between a spiritual mentor and his pupil. 

My Thought

I can say that, this book is a complete guide of life. The whole aspects of life is covered by Morrie final lessons. He talks about love, money, marriage, regrets, emotions, family and a lot more. I kind of admiring Morrie because despite of his illness he still treasures his life and share it with other person. He never gives up his life. He knows that he will die soon but for him, that is not the reason to stop living. He looks at death from a different perspective and he said “once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.” Yeah, there is the truth in his words. We know that, every living thing will face death. Birds, fish, plants and even us human being will die. Death make us realized the reason we live, and what are our responsibilities, so that when the time comes we don’t regret anything. I know that, the topic discussed between Morrie and Mitch is heavy. But, the author Really did a good job on how he delivers the issue. I really love the way Mitch Albom writes this book. The lesson given by Morrie is enjoyable and I don’t get bored over such critical topics such as death, family, marriage, etc.The way Morrie gives advices and opinion with laughter, and humors makes me feel like I was there with him and truly listen to his voice. It really moves me.

This might be the first time I read Mitch Albom’s writing but I think it is brilliant and realistic. This story is told from Mitch’s point of view but ironically I feel like the one who tells stories is Morrie  Schwartz. The way that the book is organized is easy to follow and it keeps me focus on the lesson and I can really understand all the points highlighted. all in all, this book is completely well written, packed with moral lessons which are easy to digest. It feels so good when someone is telling us what we need  in our life and what we really have to do so that our life will be a great one. So, I recommend Tuesdays With Morrie to all of you out there. Don’t miss the lessons guys!!

The team is doing well, and the student section begins a chant, “We’re number one! We’re number one!” Morrie is sitting nearby. He is puzzled by the cheer. At one point, in the midst of “We’re number one!” he rises and yells, “What’s wrong with being number two?”
